I`ve been pretty busy in the shop as of late and finally came up with some of my work that is fit to show. Nothing really fancy, just my OM project in walnut and sitka.   The back is shown with a light clear coat to help protect it during building and to get a preview of what it will look like when finished. Whatcha think? |

That's a lovely bit of walnut you have there Cocephus, it should make a wonderfully guitar, I really like walnut but we don't see to much of it here in Australia. Anyway, so far, so good.

Looking good. Nice walnut and gooood job on the braces. What is that in the background? Looks like an imbuya side on the right and maybe some sort of rosewood on the left. Future projects? You will love the way the walnut sides bend. John |

That's looking real pretty. I have some walnut on the way from BobC, and I can't wait. How about a close-up of the back strip? |

Actually, the piece on the left is another walnut back that I prepped some time back, but by the time it was presentable, it was awful thin. I may go ahead with it, though. 
The piece on the right is walnut again. That`s the headstock overlay that I came up with. Lots of zoot and bookmatched. I`ll post a better picture of that soon. As for the backsplice, it`s just the cut-off from the tail end of the back with maple binding. I made it plenty thick enough and prayed that the thickness sander wouldn`t eat it up  Came out pretty, though. It`s a little wide IMHO, but I wanted to be relatively sure about the back seam not opening up.
The old piano is a 1904 Hamilton I restored a couple years ago. That`s where my passions about music and woodworking came together  |
